So i have received a job offer for a job that I really want but I made a mistake. I put on my resume that I worked at X company around 9 months longer than I really did because I didn’t want to include the work I did in between that job. Well in the interview I went with it and said I worked there as long as I had put on my resume. I had never had experience with a job using hire right and now there are going to check my previous employment dates and I did put the correct information in hire right tho. The problem is it isn’t going to match up with my resume and the extra experience I said I had in my interview. I know now fully I should never EVER lie on a resume everything else is correct on the resume other than that. How fucked am I I’m honestly tripping out over this cause I want this job. Is there anything I can do or say if HR calls as this job was back in 2021 maybe I couldn’t remember exact dates or a typo in the year? And if changing my resume in my employee portal would help or it’s too late? Are they going to cross check my resume with hireright? Any insight would be greatly appreciated and before you guys say it I know I shouldn’t have lied lesson learned.
