Midnight originally came to us after being released from a hoarding situation across the street around 8 years ago (quite literally the granddaughter of the owner just released all of the cats after her grandma died instead of taking them to a shelter). He quickly became part of our family. We were never able to break him of the habit of going outside. He would resort to climbing curtains and damaging things if left inside for too long. In the past couple weeks, we found out that our Midnight has fungal pneumonia which has a very guarded prognosis. We suspect that he got this from our neighbors basement because around 3 months ago he went missing and was trapped in her basement for 3 days before anyone found him. We were so happy to have found him and save him, only to find out 3 months later it very well may be what has made him so ill. Treatment can take months but research shows survival significantly increases after the first two weeks (this is the most guarded period where the largest percentage of cats do not survive) and Midnight just finished his 8th day. I just wanted to post him because my boy is a fighter and continues to fight through this with all the supportive care we can give him.
