I took my five year old cat today to the vet today for a routine check up and discovered that he had a grade 2 heart murmur. The vet did not seem concerned at all. She said that if I wanted, we could get a cardiologist in to do an ECG and an ultrasound or we can wait until next year’s check up to re-assess. I haven’t noticed any behaviour that is out of the normal for him; no increased respirations, he’s still eating and acting just fine. How worried should I be? Should I get a cardiology consult now or should I wait? Does anybody have any experience with similar situation and can share some insight?
