Hi all!

My cat Mabel has been acting “off” ever since her sister died in November. Obviously I know it’s because Binx is gone and she is not only grieving in her little kitty way, but she is also bored.

Mabel will sit and stare at her automatic feeder for HOURS. I always try and distract her with toys or her favorite pastime, going in the yard and a little walk.

At this point we are going outside almost 4 times a day because she is restless.

She has never liked toys or string, or gets bored of them super quick.

The biggest problem is her separation anxiety when I leave. I see her crying/caterwauling for hours on the security camera.

I’m currently unemployed, but when I did have a short term job it was very upsetting to see her crying. I even had a sitter coming twice a day and one point staying the night when I had to be out of town. She is on Prozac, but I’m waiting for the vet to suggest something else.

Now I’m super nervous about taking a new job that will have me gone the majority of the day, but I can’t turn it down.

I already went down the avenue of getting another cat which ended with her not using the bathroom for 5 days and a high vet bill.

I want what’s best for her, but I need to live my life too.
