Hi all! I currently have an indoor cat who is coming up for 1 year old. We have French doors opening onto a back garden. The issue is our fence has gaps and our next door neighbour has a side gate onto the road, and there is a large gap underneath. Even if this was filled, I’m sure she could climb the fences and get onto the road.
We rent so we are very limited in what we can do. We have kept her inside so far, but she loves sitting at the doors and bird watching and has started to become more interested in getting out. I feel guilty keeping her in and it would also be nice to have our doors open to the garden in the summer.
I looked at the stick on screens to cover French doors but I suspect she would just climb up and pull them down. She has not taken to harnesses or collars at all and it’s nearly impossible to get them on her.
So I’ve been looking at catios that are the temporary pop up mesh kind. I thought we could put her in whilst inside then carry it outside. Does anyone have any experience with these? Are they safe and enjoyable for the cat?
Thanks!
