Hello All,

Wondering if anyone has some ideas as to why this is happening and or what we can do to help her. This has been going on for over 6 months.

Kit has a spot on her back that sometimes gets warm to the touch and I’ll see her licking it. I’ve tried several sprays for hot spots and ick flavor to get her to stop but she persists. It never gets to the point where the skin is raw, red or bleeding but she is randomly nitpicking the area and has removed a lot of her coat.

History;

Recently in the home there’s been a lot of change within the last 2 years so I’ve been wondering if this could be caused from stress?? We went from having a normal household, 2 people and 3 cats to losing 1 cat (RIP Oliver) and then losing my partner and the third cat. So now it’s just me and Minnie. She use to eat wet food with a little bit of dry food but now she only eats dry food. Also started letting her come outside on the patio now since she would yell if I leave her inside alone while I’m in the backyard. Been using flea protection and haven’t seen anything on her.

I’ve taken her to the vet twice now for this and both times it’s been useless. Just a $300+ bill to tell me to stop letting her outside or they don’t know. Kit absolutely loves going outside now so I don’t really want to take that from her since she doesn’t get alot of stimulation like she use too. I’m a first time cat dad so I really don’t know what I’m doing but I want to give her the best life possible. The rest of her behavior is all still normal, she loves to play and sleeps all day. It doesn’t seem like it really bothers her but every now and then I’ll notice her coat is thinning again so I’m hoping someone here maybe has a had a similar issue or has some advice.
