My cat seems really bored. She lived with 2 other cats, 3 humans in a house with access to outdoor before I adopted he. But now she lives in my rather small apartment and can’t go out. (She was abandoned by her previous owners and was going to be euthanasied, she’s 15 and I adopted her in October last year)
I play with her and she has toys and big windows, but she often makes long, plaintive meows. She usually stops when I give her attention, so I think she’s just bored or wants interaction.
I am clearly not enough for her to be entertain but there’s not much I can do. I do my best tho. But it came to the point where she meows so loudly around 4am that I have to sleep with loud music in my earplugs bc she won’t wake me up.
I recently started putting on animal documentaries for her while I’m working (we’re in the same room). She seems to enjoy them, just watching calmly from the couch without trying to attack the screen. Since I started, her meowing has decreased.
But now she sometimes goes back to her usual spot and looks like she’s waiting for the TV to be turned on.
Is this bad for her long term? I’m worried I’m creating a bad habit, or harming her eyes and brain.
Should I stop ? Or have a maximum time by days?
