This has happened to me twice now.
It goes like this:
I’ll apply for a job, land a phone screen interview
Great phone screen, get told I’m being moved to the next interview via email, and am asked for my availability.
I send my availability and never hear back.
I follow up, still nothing.
Then maybe a couple days after the follow up I send, I get an email like ‘oh sorry these messages have been going to spam but we chose someone else’.
It’s happened with a company called LexisNexis a few months ago. And it’s happening again with another company. I’m actively being ghosted.
This time, I’ve tried calling the number in the recruiters email, but the number is not a direct line, it’s the number listed on their website and gets me nowhere. I’ve also just reached out to the recruiter on LinkedIn.
But I’m wondering, is it common for a response on an email thread to go to spam? They reached out first, and I responded to their message.
I feel like it’s a ploy to get me to fuck off, but why go through all the trouble of interviewing me/saying you’re not getting my messages and me harassing you across platforms when you could just say we’ve hired internally/moved on with other candidates/aren’t actually hiring?
