Ok, so I live in Central Iowa, and I’ve been without work for over a year. I have substantial credit obligations, and I need to pick up any employment I can, but I also need health insurance.

So, I’ve been looking around Central Iowa, and I often see positions open with a large grocery store chain. I won’t say which one it is, but the name of this grocer has 2 syllables separated by a hyphen.

I have interviewed with this grocer 3 times in the last 18 months, and every time I interview for a full-time roll, the HR person comes back & says they’re not hiring for the position I applied for, but they would like to offer me a part-time position with no benefits, 50% of the pay, & half the hours. It’s almost as if they have no intention of filling those higher roles.

I’m curious about anyone else’s experience at this grocer? (It shouldn’t be too hard to figure out who it is, they’re the largest employer in Des Moines.) Has something similar happened to you?
