I recently took a new position at a company I love, and for the first time in many years, am hopeful this will be a long, fruitful partnership.
Last week, I received a couple of emails from different recruiters, for different positions, at different companies, to different email boxes. While I don’t want to change positions, they comp. packages being offered we extremely enticing, so I figured, why not poke at them a bit.
TBH, I wasn’t really sure if these were real people or just recruiter bots reaching out to me, but I tried to sniff out the human element, and it seemed legit. I responded, got a response, and then sent my resume per their request. Again, these were 2 extremely different situations happening at the same time.
The response I received on my “resume review” came back almost verbatim of how problematic it is for the position THEY REACHED OUT TO ME ABOUT, which must have rolled through my LI profile. Of course, they wanted me to talk to their “resume expert” to tailor it better for all the leader overlords. At that point, I shut it all down.
One of them responded - who I vetted to figure as an actual person - asking why I was no longer interested. I told them because they sent my resume through AI and never bothered to actually read it. I have had a very strange career path and movement, and while it’s clear in the resume or if you speak to me like people used to do, you’d never deduce it from paper. I sent them same response to the other one.
Needless to say, I never received a response. Good luck recruiters, your job will be obsolete in 2 years if you don’t start acting like a person that cares about your client.
