I live on the fourth floor, with a couple of indoor cats, so they don’t encounter wildlife much. But bees sometimes make it up here, either onto the balcony or in through a window, and my cats of course immediately go into kill mode.

If they catch and devour a bee, they then immediately vomit, but other than that they seem fine. But I’m worried about what that stinger will do, if it strikes inside a cat’s mouth or throat. A few minutes ago I saw my first bee this year, as it made it into the balcony and my lazy fatass of a cat immediately bolted out through a narrow opening and caught it. I ran out and hissed at the cat until he dropped the bee from his mouth, after which I threw it down.

But I am, of course only occasionally at home and on alert. How bad is a bee sting for a cat?
