So I’ll try not to leave too many personal details but I’m really beside myself right now trying to find another solid role in my field that pays enough to leave my current one. I’m happy in my current role but I could be bringing more in with my as I just had a kid, got a house, married recently, big life event stuff, and would like to live a bit more comfortably. As soon as I think we’re financially on track, something else just pops up. I don’t want to move which is part of my issue. We live in a HCOL and moderate to low paying area. But it’s too nice to pick up and go cause I’ll never be able to afford to get back here.
I’ve been actively listening to other job opportunities and applied to one I didn’t get which I was told I was a great candidate for, but since it was a large well desired company to work for, people over qualified are my competition. Made it to last round. Don’t get job after taking days off work. Say I’m done doing this and I’ll just stick with what I’ve got.
Recruiters start reaching out and I think “why not, it doesn’t hurt to listen”. I got contacted by 3 different people about the same role. Take one guys follow up call and he is noticably frustrated I didn’t mention I already spoke to someone else regarding the same one, says I thought you said you didn’t know about xy company and I told you not to speak to anyone else. We can’t represent you. I just told him to have a good night and hung up, deleted messaged from the job portal he reached out to me on and sat beside myself for a second.
I guess I’m just going to accept what I have in life and figure out how to save money by cutting down my 401k I don’t know if I’ll ever get to use and not eat out, etc so I can have fun money cause wow, I’m over dealing with recruiting people. Leads to nowhere and a wasted chunk out of my time I don’t have to spare right now. I wish everyone that needs to go through this process the best of luck.
