My Leon is gone.

Yesterday our wonderful vet came out to our home and sat with us until we were ready to say goodbye. My little black cat Lucy was next to him the whole time, comfort grooming him as she had been since he fell ill. He looked so peaceful. I will miss my beautiful boy for as long as I live.

Thank you to everyone who urged me to look into at home euthanasia, and for all who shared stories of their beloved pets. I spent time outside with him before he passed. We listened to the birds, soaking in the sun. He’d always chase the rays inside the house to sleep in them. It was such a beautiful day. Such a bittersweet thing enjoying it with him knowing what was coming.

I’ll miss you sun cat. I hope wherever you are there are plenty of boxes that are way too small for you to fit in but you sit in them anyway.
