Long story short, I got laid off due to budgets. I went through all interviews for a small business, the recruiter asked for references and I gave them two form the job I got let go from (I did confirm with the references that I could use them).

The recruiter calls me, I missed the call, and called her back yesterday afternoon and said she spoke to my references and asked about my interest in the role, when I could start, etc. I think she might have said they were talking to someone else about the role, and she’d get back to me this week.

Earlier last week and this week she had a strong sense of urgency about me and flat out said I was the top pick. But now I’m wondering if my references said something bad since I haven’t gotten the offer yet and she also reposted the job on linkedin yesterday with a new description and also shared it on their linkedin page. Wtf???
