I had an interview scheduled with a well-known organization for a program management role.

  • Interview was confirmed
  • Time/location set
  • Everything looked good

Then the day before, I get an email saying they’re canceling because they’ve decided to move forward with another candidate.

No conversation. No interview. Just… canceled.

I understand not getting selected, that’s part of the process.
But canceling a confirmed interview at the last minute feels like something else entirely.

It raises a bigger question:

Are hiring processes actually respecting candidates’ time anymore?

Because behind every scheduled interview is:

  • Prep time
  • Schedule adjustments
  • Mental energy

I’m curious: has this happened to others recently?

Is this becoming standard practice, or just a bad experience?
