I’ve adopted this kitten a week ago now. I have a resident 2 year old cat already. When we are going to bed at night or are leaving the house we put the kitten away in her designated room because the male cat has been trying to mount her and the vet told us to keep them separated when unsupervised as she is only 3 months old and can get hurt if he keeps mounting her.
The problem is she HATES being alone in that room. She cries a lot when in there and scratches at the door. Last night she kept banging on the door to the point she cut herself on her head. So now I genuinely don’t know what to do to keep her safe. If I let her out my older cat will potentially hurt her and now if I keep her locked away she will hurt herself.
Has anyone had this issue before??? I’ll take any advice I can get. I feel bad having to lock her away, especially now where she hurt herself, but it’s just not safe yet for her to be free with the older cat as she is still too small to really defend herself.
