'm in a frustrating situation and would appreciate some advice from people who’ve been through this.

I interviewed for an Associate-level Portfolio Management/Regulatory Reporting role for a bank in Mumbai for which I gave two rounds of interviews, the second round was on Monday (April 13th) with the VP/Head of Regulatory Reporting. The interview went well and the interviewer said “hope to see you soon” and mentioned they’d be making final decisions and rolling out offers “by next week”.

Now, I’ve been following up with the HR recruiter and getting radio silence:

Friday (April 17): Called HR, he said, I’ll get feedback by Tuesday

Tuesday (April 21): Called HR, he said “Haven’t received feedback yet, will call you upfront when I do”

Wednesday (April 22): Called HR again, mentioned I have other opportunities with time-sensitive decisions. He said he’d “drop another mail to the recruiting team” and get back to me “today ASAP”

Thursday (April 23): Sent a professional follow-up email. Have called him twice but no response.

I’m now considering emailing the hiring manager (the VP who interviewed me) directly since HR has completely ghosted me after multiple promises but I’m worried this might come across as desperate or actually hurt my chances.
