Recently my boyfriend’s cat (i affectionately cat her my step cat [i have more pictures of his cat than he does]) has been more and more affectionate. When she was younger (around 2 years old) she would be more aloof and not spend as much time interacting with him.

Now as a 4 year old, she still doesn’t like being picked up or touched as much, but she will voluntarily sit on his lap (has been occurring more and more recently) and let him pet her. Very recently she has also taken a liking to laying/loafing on his bed, which she typically never does as she seems to prefer sleeping in high up places, which the bed is not. She will also sometimes loaf on him when he’s asleep (lol).

Is this just how a cat naturally grows closer to a human? He’s had her since she was a kitten and has raised her from birth so it’s not like much changed from when she was 2 to 4, except that they moved to a much calmer country.
