i got my baby at the shelter 8 years ago now. when i got her, the vet estimated based on her size that she was about one year old. since then, my cat has not gotten bigger, she still looks virtually the same as when i got her. i found out that she’s a Manx (the shelter didn’t know cause she was found stuck somewhere outside so they didn’t know much about her), and Manx cats tend to be smaller than the average cat. since the original estimation of size no longer applied, i asked a new doctor at my vet recently how old he thought she was. he guessed about 4. i said “i’ve had her for 7 years” and he was shocked and said she looked very good for her age. all this to say, she could’ve been older than one year old when i got her and i would have no idea. she was already spayed and declawed (unfortunately 😣) before getting to the shelter, and she has always been chill, she never had the chaotic kitten behavior that i’ve seen in other cats up to ~3 years old. i know she’s at least 9 years old. i think she’s older than that. but she’s still very spry & fast & gets zoomies & hunts bugs & plays with our 115lb dog and she shows no signs of pain or slowing down. when did you start noticing your cat getting old?
tl;dr: idk how old my cat is, i think she might be fairly old but still shows no signs of it. when did you notice your cat getting old?
