Hello all,

My boy Theodore sits at the back door and cries and cries to go outside. He is not a outdoor cat, never has been.

A few months back, we had a incident where the upstairs neighbors 2 cats got out and came to our door and were scratching and yelling to be let in, and that FREAKED Theodore out. He went through 2 weeks or so of just being freaked out and being a bit more reclusive and on edge, ever since, his behavior outside of crying has been back to normal.

I am asking for advice on how to curb this behavior/help him move past the previous incident. We occasionally let him outside to inspect and ensure himself that things are safe. Outside the door is a mutual staircase to outside. He is always under supervision when inspecting the back area.

Any advice is greatly appreciated. I recently bought feliway spray and that has been relatively not a deterrent we thought it would be.
