My cat used to be a stray. He has been a pet for 3 years now. During that time he has been either a solo cat or part of a larger group of cats.

We recently moved into a new place after living alone for a while.

When he is a solo cat he will eat his kibble when he is hungry and will leave some for later.

However, when living with other cats, even when he has access to his own food, he gets pretty food insecure and will steal their food if he has an opportunity to do so.

Looking for advice on how to stop him from doing this as much/as often.

Currently he is fed in my bedroom and the other cat is fed in the kitchen - she lived in the house first and we’re still getting him used to the house.

He has his own bowl of kibble, and water, and wet food (tho that gets eaten when its put down.) available to him at all times.

The other cat gets fed kibble and it is available at all times for her to graze on.

He is currently allowed to roam the house supervised while he settles and gets used to the house/the new cat but is mostly in my room during the day when I work/at night with me.

However if I or a housemate am not in the kitchen and he goes in there then he will absolutely steal Luna’s food.

Eta: he is so much happier being with other cats, he’s SUCH a social boy so being solo while better food crime wise is much worse for him mentally/emotionally.

Cat tax photos of Bruce aka Mr Piss aka Crimeboy aka baby man attached and I’ll see if I can find any of Luna.
