I have two cats, a bonded pair, Teddy and Buddy. They are inside cats and they show no interest in going outside. Also they have to be inside due to Buddy’s medical issues (he has a very weak immune system and is therefore not allowed to go outside or to live with an outside cat).
Teddy, who this is about, has started showing signs of boredom. He meows all the time for seemingly no particular reason. The vet has confirmed he is healthy and just bored. The problem now is, nothing seems the right fit for solving his boredom. We have plenty of small and medium-sized toys, but after initially showing interest, Teddy has stopped playing with them over time. Then we have some cat wands, but the problem is that he is scared of all of them. It seems that the only toy he currently likes is a laser pointer - but I read that using those is not good because it can leave the cat in a stage of stress. My attempt at finishing laser pointer play by pointing it at a toy for him to catch also did not work at all.
Do you have any other ideas?
