My cat is about to be 7 years old, and has been a chunky guy for a couple of years now. I want to help him lose some of that weight.

So for starters,he has a 1 year old brother who is half his size (he is 16 pounds, his brother is 8 pounds) and his brother does not eat as much as he does. So to fix that issue, I just ordered them both their own microchip feeding bowls that way my smaller cat can still get the same amount of food and I don’t have to worry about him not eating as much.

His brother definitely helps him stay active when I am unable to at work and with other things. They play a lot, and are constantly running up and down the steps and all around.

But, I want to know what is the best thing to be feeding him to help as well with the weight loss. Both him and his brother are not huge fans of wet food weirdly enough (they have a water fountain and both do drink a lot so hydration isn’t a problem) they will drink the broth of the wet food but aren’t fans of the texture of the meat. They mainly like chicken flavored dry food (extremely picky cats Ik Ik) so I need help figuring out what is the best and healthiest option for him. Something that will also preferably help with his age as well as his weight loss.

Thank you for the help, and I am honestly open to anything here! I wanna help give him the best life possible and also let the vet see some improvement from the last time they saw him.

Cat photo for fun!
