Hi all,

I wanted to share my recent experience with Google hiring and get some perspective from people who’ve been through something similar.

I went through the full interview loop for a technical operations role (data center / facilities side). The process went really well — I got positive feedback throughout, and at one point the recruiter even mentioned that the hiring manager liked my profile and was considering leveling me up.

After the final stage, there was a bit of delay (about a week+), and then the recruiter called me with mixed news:

The hiring manager decided to move forward with another candidate (apparently it came down to two of us in the final stage)

However, they said the HM really liked my interviews and specifically asked to keep me in the loop for upcoming roles

Recruiter mentioned a new role may open in the next couple of weeks

When I asked if I’d need to interview again, she said no

She also advised me to keep an eye on Google job postings and apply

So now I’m in this in-between situation where:

I didn’t get the role

But I’m not rejected either

And they’re saying I’m “hireable” for future roles

I’m trying to understand:

How real is this “we’ll consider you for another role” situation at Google?

Does “no need to interview again” usually hold true, or is that subject to change?

What’s the best way to approach this — just wait, or proactively apply and follow up?

Has anyone here actually converted this kind of situation into an offer later?

For context, this was for a mid-senior level role, and I have relevant experience in the field.

Would really appreciate honest insights — especially from anyone who has been on either side of this process.

Thanks in advance 🙏
