I was immediately drawn to this older cat at the shelter. He was estimated to be between 10-13 but healthy and I adopted him in December. He was shy at first but quickly became my lap cat. I loved him deeply and every night I enjoyed my special cuddles with him. He was just the most beautiful thing. At the start of the month I noticed he was having trouble grooming himself. He seemed dirty. I took him to the groomer and had him all cleaned and his fur cut. I thought it would make things easier for him. I noticed though that he liked most of the fur off his paws and he seemed skinnier. I got him to the vet and he has squamous cell carcinoma under his tongue. I was hoping maybe we’d have a little more time together but his quality of life is rapidly declining. He is having trouble eating and getting bloody noses. We only got four months but I think it’s time to let my sweet boy go. I’m heartbroken but I can’t let him continue us to suffer.
