I have a 17-year-old cat who lost a lot of weight until we could get a handle on her UTIs. We have a fat, younger cat who seems to have stolen all of older cat’s weight. They get 1/3 of a cup of wet food 2x a day. Fat cat gets prescription UTI wet food and old cat gets friskies (split with another cat). Fat cat, oc, eats as much of the others’ wet food as he can if they even look up from their bowls. Fat cat is fed two rooms away to slow down his ability to steal food.

Last week, vet 1 said to stop giving cats dry food and only give them wet food. She said to switch out the wet food for UTIs to a weight-controlled version (Science Diet has both). She said fat boy doesn’t need dry and old girl should only have wet to increase moisture.

THIS week, vet 2 says old girl needs dry food, too, and that’s why she’s down .8 of a pound. She wants her on a high-calorie dry food as well as wet.

QUESTION:

  1. Is there a good rfd or chip feeder for the two skinny cats that won’t break the bank?
  2. Which is it? Yes dry food or no wet food?
