This morning I noticed one of my cats had been tearing a lot from one eye. The next time I saw her it was red and swollen, with the third eyelid showing more than usual. Photos are in reverse chronological order.

Any idea what this is, and the severity/urgency of the situation?

She’s acting normal, but her eye seems to be getting more inflamed.
