Flared as advice, but not really. Just puzzled. I have two cats and they are my little shadows. When I come home, they hear my voice and come running, bouncing up for rubs. They “talk” all the time - if one comes into the room, s/he says, “Prrrruuuu!” and shark-bumps me. They purr for the kids, they purr for my husband … but not for me. The male cat sleeps at the end of my bed, appearing in the middle of the night. He’ll announce his arrival with a “Prrruuuu!” and settle down. If I stroke him, he’s silent. If one of the kids comes by, he’ll start purring.

What gives? Why don’t I get purrs? My husband tries to console me by saying that they seem to think I’m a fellow cat because they “talk” to me but I’m feeling like the evil stepmother here 😀
