I am currently in the final stages of interviewing for a major role in the tech industry. This is a significant career jump for me, and I have never negotiated an offer before. Honestly, the process makes me more nervous than the interviews themselves.

The company is mid-sized (2k-3k employees) with a multi-billion dollar valuation. They seem to have plenty of capital and have been very vocal about wanting me for the role.

**The Current Landscape:**

• **Base Pay Range:** $100k to $200k. They mentioned a “comfort range” but noted they would go above it for the right candidate.

• **Equity:** Mid-$100k range vested over 4 years.

• **Relocation:** They offered assistance but haven’t provided specifics yet.

**My Goals:**

  1. **Base Salary:** I need to land about 10% to 15% above their stated “comfort zone” maximum.

  2. **Sign-on Bonus:** I would prefer a sign-on bonus over additional equity to help with the immediate transition.

  3. **Relocation:** Since I am moving my entire family across the country, I need a “white glove” package. This includes full packing/unpacking services and temporary housing while we find a permanent home.

I haven’t “anchored” myself to a specific number yet. Whenever pay came up, I kept it vague, stating that my requirements would depend on the total package, including deductions and benefits.

**Questions for the group:**

• How do I bridge the gap between their “comfort range” and my 15% target without sounding greedy?

• What is the best way to ask for a sign-on bonus specifically in lieu of higher equity?

• For those in tech, what does a standard “white glove” relocation package actually look like, and how do I ensure it’s written into the contract? As well as any extras they could offer.

I appreciate any tips or scripts to help me manage the nerves and get this right.
