I have a playful girl cat that just turned 1 last week. With kitten season upon us, I want to adopt a second for her to have a playmate. I’ve had cats before but never more than one at a time.

There’s a kitten at my shelter that I’m looking at with the silliest little face, but she’s a she.

But my aunt told me that because I have a girl cat, I should avoid getting another girl. Is that really true? Even if my current cat is so young and I take the time to properly introduce?

I like this kitten but don’t want to put them both in a territorial battle. Does anyone have a positive experience of adopting a second girl and them getting along.
