we have an adult cat who is pretty social and chill, and we just came across someone trying to find a kitten a home. we have been debating getting a second cat but this is kinda sudden.

we are both down but wanna make sure we are taking everything into account. we live in a 500 square ft apartment so not very big and the kitten is 2 months 2 weeks old. our current cat Shadow is almost 2 years old. both of them are potty trained. the kitten was abandoned a week old and raised by the dude for the last 2 months. Shadow is well adjusted to our home and friendly to people who come over. we have had him for 5 months.

do we need to get separate adult and kitten food? how would we make sure they eat the right kind? do they actually need separate litter boxes?(we both grew up with cats that shared litter fine. Also we got Shadow from Petco where he lived with two other cats in a room with only two litter boxes)

we can answer any questions to help with advice
