This sub doesn’t allow YouTube links, I’ll do the best of my ability to explain what the video is about.
The video is about a guy trying to catch a mouse he found in his house, and he screams at the cat “LUNAAA!!! YOU’RE A USELESS CAT, LUNA!!!” for not getting the mouse. The insulting doesn’t bother me, I jokingly call my snakes dumb and single-braincelled lol, but the yelling rubs me the wrong way. He isn’t just raising his voice or shouting, he was screaming at her. The cat got scared she ran off in the end when he screamed at her again.
I feel like we need to focuss on perspectives here because we anthroporphize animals so much that we forget what it actually is like in their perspective. The way I see it is, we know this guy is joking and isn’t genuinely scolding the cat, but I feel like in the cat’s perspective, she can tell her owner is in distress regardless whether it is because of the mouse or not, and she is getting yelled at. Her name is being hollered bloody murdered (to me, his screams are scary, but I’m not the cat so I don’t know for sure how scary they are to her).
I’ve never owned a cat, I don’t know much about cats so please be patient with me and please don’t be condescending, I’m just trying to learn. :') So far not a single top comment or recent comment is showing actual concerns for the cat, just things like “poor cat lol”, but nothing else. So am I being unreasonable for feeling bad for Luna? Is it okay to be worried about her? I’m sure this was just for the video and that he doesn’t yell at her, but idk… the video rubbed me the wrong way hhh. Putting your pet in a stressful situation for a video? Idk, but it was a short video too, so maybe I’m thinking too much of this.
