Hello! Wondering if any of you have had a similar issue and have any words of advice :)
So my windows in my APT all face SW, aka sun year long, and my place has the “lovely” ability to hold on to heat for a longgg time… for example this winter I turned my furnace on maybe 8 or less times? I live in the Midwest, so winters do get quite cold, but I found myself keeping the AC on because the solar heat that would come though the windows from noon to sunset just made my place a sauna despite it being 10°F outside 😅
So with summer approaching I’m going to be installing some window film that’ll help block out the solar heat as well as UV. However I’m just wondering if that’ll interfere too much with the sunbathing aka my cats favorite part of the day lol
The tint Im thinking of getting is middle ground as far as solar heat blocking goes (estimates around 72% heat blocking) any lower and I feel like my apt would remain a sauna and any higher and I fear the kitties wouldn’t experience any sun heat or too dark of a tint for them.
Would putting the film on the upper 2/3 of my sliding door and windows allow enough benefit from the film and the kitties their direct sun warmth? Or do you think they’ll get enough warm sun through the film? I worry that if I leave a window uncovered or leave part of the glass uncovered it would just not be as effective with the hot sun that it does allow in…
If anyone has any experience with solar window film and cats sunbathing I’d love to hear from you, thank you!!
