Hi everyone, I’m a senior in college in Japan, and honestly, I’m just totally burnt out on job hunting.

I’m studying at the Open University of Japan, which is a bit of an unconventional choice here since it’s a correspondence school. In Japan, the norm is for everyone to start their job hunt around the fall or winter of their junior year, but so far, I haven’t had any luck getting an offer.

I really want to work in fields related to infrastructure or transportation. However, I feel like being a correspondence student is being treated as a negative by recruiters. On top of that, I’m just so sick of these “scripted” interviews that feel like a total farce, only to get rejected in the end. It’s draining.

What are the job-hunting rules or norms like in your country? And for those who have survived this process, how did you push through?

P.S. English isn’t my first language, so I used Gemini to help with the translation!
