Got two foster cats with a rescue, 4 and 5 years old. One of them eats too much, has gained weight. I was told we don’t want him to gain more. The other cat, who has been his friend for a year, is on the thin side. She’s lost at least a pound since last year. I’ve been fostering them for 6 months.

The issue is I think bigger cat just eats more often or faster so small cat doesnt get time to eat.

Like I dont think I can pick the food up after X amount of time cause small cat eats through the day. Today big cat kinda jumped on small cat knocked her on the hard floor, really spooked her. She threw up on the cat tree. She had had issues throwing up before but it had mostly resolved. Vet didn’t give any feedback on why she was throwing up. I wasn’t at the vet but I told AC about the situation and I wanted to see what the vet said and the vet didnt really bring anything up apparently.

I’m worried about big cat dealing with problems cause he is overweight and small cat being under. She is still active and chatty, just lost weight. Big cat makes it hard at times for small cat to eat if he eats all the food before she does. Honestly with these issues, I dont think I’m the best equipped,. I don’t know how best to help them.

I’ve been posting on TikTok and recently Nextdoor to try toget them adopted. They can’t go to adoption events cause of behavior issues / shyness.

I’ve had a close call with an adopter but he ghosted. It sorta gets annoying when I am given the impression it’s just a matter of taking better pics. They have good pics from their past fosters that I use in my posts, and that still doesn’t get them anywhere. AC posted them on her insta at one point and that didn’t get interest. I want them to be adopted. I just don’t know what to do.

I feel paralyzed worried about the cats. Like I dont want to toss cats with issues on other people I jsut don’t know how I can solve this issue. They eat through the day so I can’t just lock them in rooms for 20 min and pick up the food after. Plus once I am working again that just wont be as sustainable. AC suggested I get flatter bowls so they eat slower. I did , less throw up from small cat but he issues still persust.

What would you do with cats with opposite feeding issues, that are hard to adopt out in general, but are friends even if one plays too hard at times for the other. (I try to play laser tag, he’s so big and takes laser tag so seriously it puts smaller cat off participating).

What would you do in this situation? Thank you
