I think the apparent red is not because we recognize the brand, but rather because the hue of cyan used is opposite from red. Our brains are constantly doing their own form of white balancing, so in the region that lacks cyan, our white balancing has shifted white towards red.
Therefore, if you replaced the cyan with yellow, the can would become blue.

That IS interesting as fuck. When I focus on a single pixel, I am able to filter out the ‘red’, but the moment I stop focusing the ‘red’ returns
