It was the scented detergent!

Since I’ve switched to use a scentless detergent, he hasn’t peed the bed even once. And I’ve had problems with it for years in periods, where no medical issues could be found. It has caused me and my cat a lot of stress since 2021 but now since about a year, I’ve even stopped worrying completely.

The amount of time I’ve googled and talked with vets about these issues would be difficult to put into numbers, and now I feel like I want to share my solution so that maybe some desperate soul finds it in the future. I never found this advice when I was searching for answers, many focused on either medical problems or social insecurities, suggesting Feliway for a solution etc. But those never worked for us.

So if you or anyone of your close ones have issues with this, one possible solution could be that the cat is sensitive to the detergent. Of course the issue could be medical or social and a veterinarians opinion is always more important, but switching to a scentless detergent might be worth trying.
