We lived just back from a long straight country road. On sunny days my old beige ginger was in the habit of sitting at the side of the road. One day, a car came along the road and my old cat went under a wheel, got thrown 15 feet in the air, and slammed down on the road. The driver drove on without stopping, leaving the old boy for dead.
Fortunately there was a witness – my landlord’s wife, who was a vet. She rushed to him, expecting to find a dead cat but he was still alive, groaning, and in great pain. She rushed him to her surgery and found he had only a broken leg, no internal injuries.
My old boy made a full recovery, as you can see above, but we never did identify that driver who just drove on without stopping.
