I had three interviews with a company I’m genuinely excited about, with the most recent interview being a mock business review last Tuesday. They told me at the start of the meeting that they’d give me feedback on my presentation at the end, and their feedback was all positive (not just “you did great!”; they pointed out specific things I did well). But because I’m an anxious, self-critical person, I was worried that they were just being nice and didn’t want to share any criticism. 😂

They told me during the interview that I’d hear back either Friday or Monday (it’s Sunday night as I’m typing this), but I just got the below email from the hiring manager with an update that I should now expect to hear back by Wednesday.

What does it mean? It sounds like maybe an interview with another candidate got pushed back, or perhaps key decision makers haven’t had a chance to discuss their picks. It’s not a definitive “no” from the sounds of it (if it was, I imagine I would have just been rejected/ghosted).

I was also told at the beginning of this process that I might interview with the CEO, but then I was told on Tuesday that the presentation would be the final interview. So I wonder if they’re torn between candidates and are considering maybe having one final interview (it’s a smaller company so a CEO interview wouldn’t be entirely unheard of).

I’ve just been anxiously awaiting an update and I’m majorly overthinking things. I just really want this job, it seems like a great fit and I really admire the company. 🥺 I need some of my fellow Redditors to overanalyze this email with me, lmao.
