Hi everyone,
I’ve been in a very stressful and anxious over the past week. I went through four interview stages with a Europe-based company and completed a case study. So far, I’ve received feedback once, saying that the process was going well and they liked the case study (it was pretty useless for any company or operations, just checking my coding abilites so I don’t think I’m taken advantage of with that) and, as a final step, they wanted me to have a meeting with the VP.
The interview lasted less than 20 minutes and was mostly just an introduction. Honestly, I didn’t fully understand the reason for that, because I wasn’t really asked any questions—I mostly just introduced myself. Overall, the tone of the meeting was positive and it felt more like a casual chat.
However, the process, which had been moving quickly up to that point, hasn’t progressed at all for the past week. To be honest, I was expecting an offer within 2–3 days after the VP interview. But I really don’t know whether this stage typically moves quickly or slowly in companies, and this silence is making me quite anxious.
Is it actually a high probability to receive a rejection email after this stage, or am I overthinking it? In the meantime, I sent a follow-up email to HR yesterday asking about the status of the process, but I haven’t received a response yet.
I really want this position, and I’ve reached a point where I can barely sleep or focus on anything else since I keep checking my emails constantly. This might sound exaggerated or overly anxious, but I’ve been job hunting for 8 months and I’m reaching a financial breaking point. This has been the furthest hiring process I’ve had so far.
Is it common to get rejected after a C level interview, or could it be that preparing the contract is simply taking time?
