Alright, so,
Me and GF have a cat, Murphy, and is almost 9 months old.
An orange ball of furr.
2-3 months back, he started coughing, a situation where a vet advised us it was just a cold, gave him a vitamin shot, and had a shot of an antibiotic (3 total, 1 each 2 days)
The situation gets a little better before it gets a little worse.
We consulted another vet, who with a stethoscopes noted that there is a highly expressed “rumbling” when Murphy breaths - most likely an obstruction in his air pathways, was on a dosed, schematic medication of corticosteroid and antibiotic syrup (a little stronger one), administered orally.
We did an X-ray, and it was also concluded that the bigboy has a big heart to contain all his love, but more on that later.
Since his condition with the shortness of breath and breathing through his diaphragm, he was diagnosed with asthma, for which we give him fluticason (2 x day).
Now, these last few days passed where our homeboy’s appetite just plummeted. We tried everything. He would sometimes even reject his favorite snacks, not just his food. Went to the vet and we will run some tests on his heart tomorrow, but i wanted to share the situation here and get some of you guy’s experience if any of you have been in a similar situation - and how did you handle it?
TL:DR: Our 9-month-old cat Murphy developed ongoing breathing issues initially treated as a cold, but later diagnosed as asthma with suspected airway obstruction and possible heart concerns. Despite treatment (antibiotics, corticosteroids, inhaler), his breathing improved only slightly and now his appetite has suddenly dropped, and we’ll do further heart tests.
