In January, my 1.5 year old cat was diagnosed at the ER with congestive heart failure. The vet did some tests and said it was likely congenital. They told us a lifespan of 6-18 months is typical after a diagnosis, but sometimes longer. She’s on Lasix & anticoagulants and doing great. If you didn’t know she was sick, you wouldn’t know she’s sick. But I realize this could take a turn at anytime (the initial incident was extremely sudden and unexpected). They said monitor breathing, eating, all those things. For those of you that went through this, what are the signs that their time is coming to a close? Was it slow and progressive or sudden? She’s living her best life right now, but I don’t want her to suffer when the time comes.
