My cat is named Boba Fett and he is around 5 years old. He lives with me and my parents who have two other cats. After we moved in with my parents around 2023, he started to slowly gain weight because he would eat the other cats leftovers. About two month ago we cut back on wet food and switched to mainly dry and he lost some weight which at the time seemed normal to me. “He wasn’t eating other the cat’s food” I thought. But now his weight loss has started to scare me as he feels way lighter to pickup and his rib cage seems bigger than normal (I wish I had another top down photo from before so I could compare better) and recently when I tried to entice him with some wet food he barely put a dent in the can. I’m not home a lot due to work and house/apt hunting so I haven’t been able to see myself how much he’s eating regularly. The appointment isn’t until may 4th (soonest availability) and am wondering if I’m underacting by not taking him in right now as an emergency. I’m worried so much about him he’s been such a bright spot in my life, it kills me to wait so long but I can’t afford emergency bills unless it’s an actual emergency. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading.
