A week away from an interview, and I’ve just received been given notice that they’re cancelling my interview as they’ve found someone who fits the bill and they can start immediately.

I can’t help but feel irritated at the fact that I had applied on the date of the job posting (over a month ago), and when they reached out, they were the ones that delegated me an interview so far away. Usually, to combat this you select the earliest interview date provided or apply asap, and I did all I could do.

Why not interview candidates in a week and choose the best one for the job? I feel like I didn’t even get the chance. Had they asked me to, I’d have happily interviewed asap. I guess I was the “back up” for the candidate they really wanted. I know It’s better this way to avoid wasting my time, but still, can’t get over the weird time line if they wanted someone asap?
