It’s easier to say she’s asthma-like given how sensitive she is to dust and other common triggers. She had a bad respiratory infection from before I adopted her, and now has long lasting issues as a result of that.
I’ve tried so many cat litters. I try to stick to unscented, maybe with activated charcoal to absorb the smells. Usually non-clumping as it is something I’m aware of can cause issues. I did try a few clumping out of desperation, including the one now.
• Wood pellets/shavings caused a wheezing episode. Even the low dust ones. Tried all the brands I could find at my local pet stores.
• Paper was the same as the wood.
• Tidy cats free and clean worked wonders until we saw that it was sticking to her paws.
• Pretty litter gave her another wheezing episode.
Now trying world’s best (even though it’s clumping) and now she’s decided that actually it tastes pretty damn good. Even though I threw some of the old litter on top/mixed in. She’s a freak who loves corn.
(Currently watching her, she didn’t get more than a bite in. Gonna supervise, if she starts showing symptoms it’s straight to the vet.)
Clay, paper, wood, sand, silica. I’ve tried everything and the kitchen sink. So many small brands of low dust tracking and unscented/non clumping that I can’t remember the names of, and each had their own problems. Whether it was that she straight up hated it, wheezed from it, or that it was sticking to her paws. The eating it is a first, I’ll give her that. And it’s not one I expected to deal with lol.
Any lung-afflicted kitty parents have any suggestions?
