The round 1 interviewer said they will do a background check to verify enrollment status, criminal record, and etc. He didn’t mention GPA or school programs but that doesn’t mean they can’t come up. I am unsure of what to do. Proceed and hope I get away with it? Drop out because risks are high?
My real GPA (3.0) passes their gpa requirement listed in their posting 3.0/4.0. Unfortunately I wrote in my resume that my GPA was close to a 4.0. I deeply regret it since my GPA meets the requirements. l I have removed my GPA for future applications.
I also lied about being in a prestigious business program at my school. I’m not going to go in depth about it but just think of it as a rigorous program that has a low acceptance rate. I still have this on my resume. I am unsure if I should remove it or keep it. I have a decent chance answering questions about the program since I have friends in the program that are helping me with me with this lie.
My reasoning about why I lied is because I am late to the game. I am doing everything I can to get my foot in the door. I barely started applying for internships this month when a lot of roles have already closed. I’m third year student that feels behind my peers. Everyone knows the unwritten golden rule: get a summer internship junior year summer going into senior year and aim for a return offer. I feel most students have had their first internship/real world experience while I am trying to gain my first internship right now. My only experience is a previous part time job and current class practical work that is relevant to my major (modeling, research, pitching, etc). I feel everyone else has more experience than me, I wish I tried harder earlier. If anyone has advice on how to build my resume or what to do of I can’t land a summer internship, that would be greatly appreciated.
