this is my boy romeo. he was abandoned by his owners a few years ago, and i took him in. he’s an outdoor cat that sleeps inside, eats inside, comes inside to escape the rain or any other conditions. several times i’ve had to change his food and i always amounted it to him just being picky. each time i would switch, it worked. he went from pate, to shreds, meaty bits, back to pate or whatever other concoctions frisky has come up with. since maybe tuesday or wednesday of last week, getting him to eat has been a chore. i leave for work at 6 am and he’s always at the door, so i let him in, feed him usually let him back out, but recently he hasn’t been eating or eating very little. he’s acting totally normal. he grooms himself a lot, and his meows are on mute lol he does shed but it’s also almost summer here in florida. i know logically the best plan of action is to take him to the vet, but i have 2 kids. one is in the middle of her softball season the other is about to start his travel team. now i personally believe he has another food source. several neighbors around and he hangs around all of them. he’s not skittish but doesn’t let everyone pet him but maybe he’s got ahold of someone else. i haven’t noticed any weight loss, or in the way he acts. nothing about my household has changed. i’ve tried warming his wet food up, or adding hot water to it and just nothing. he did eat half a can of shreds just randomly one night, and a half can of fancy feast but eating a whole meal hasn’t happened it awhile. he’s in the routine of eating first thing in the morning and he still just puts his nose to it and walks away. my kids say he eats his treats but i noticed the other day he didn’t. if anyone has experienced this with their cat, id love to hear. i know my kids are scared that he’s dying and i told them he’s acting normal. he chased another yesterday. i just want all possibilities to help. thank you so much
