I feel so exhausted by one specific job search.

It’s tough for tech right now with how the world is. It’s even tougher trying to find a tech or remote job in a specific area where I’m trying to go to be with my partner, family, and friends. But I found a dream posting a few months ago that’s exactly aligning to my experience/skill/location.

They rushed me along through three hard interviews within a few weeks and always provided positive feedback. Everything felt PERFECT until the silence came.

First after a week of silence I was told that everyone loved me and I would have an update by the end of the week but Friday came and went with nothing but silence.

Then after a week of nothing, I got a message catching up but still was not a rejection.

After another two weeks of total silence, I got a message saying the hiring team is still making a decision but the feedback is still positive and asking if I am still interested.

I’m still applying elsewhere and trying my best but it’s hard to get any leads right now. I have a lease renewal coming up in about two months and I can’t get a straight answer. It is honestly exhausting to keep getting my hopes up just to be left hanging. I lose hope and then gain it again constantly.

Am I just being kept on the hook as a backup in case their first choice(s) falls through? It’s been 4 weeks but the lines about positive feedback leave me so confused.

Why would they not have rejected me by now but keep contacting me? I’ve never had an experience this confusing lol.

Just looking to vent and see what others think.
