I just got a recruiter message for a well-above industry average salary, for an unrealistically low workload. “Here’s everything you ever wanted, nothing you don’t, and 20k above the jobs you’d hate and never even consider because they ask for too much”. My instant reaction is: this is 100% BS. Either the job doesn’t exist, or something terrible is not being communicated.

Based on my recruiter interactions in the last 5 years or so, it seems like 95% of recruiter interactions are just building up their numbers/how many connections they have.

Makes me long for a world where we can all be honest.

-there isn’t really a job available, but I’m a new recruiter and don’t have that many contacts, so can we please connect?

-Yes this job pays amazingly well, and requires very little work, but participation is required in the bi-weekly intra-office orgy.

- I’m leaving my job because I hate it, my boss is a jackass, I want something where I’m treated like a human.

- No I can’t organize an interview whenever the hell you want, because surprisingly my employer doesn’t know about you, or the 50 other interviews I’ve had in the last month.

- yes, I’m interested in work life balance. I don’t want work to be my entire life.
