After seeing about a dozen posts in the last day with people panicking about what to do if they’re caught lying about their background, apparently it needs to be said that companies generally will find out basic information like employment dates and obvious lies are going to get your offer pulled and likely lead to a blacklisting from that company.

I’m not saying don’t do it. You do you, I do not care. I just do not get the confusion some have when the consequences come back to bite them in the ass.
